GE’s commitment to employee engagement and development

As a global industry leader, GE has always placed a strong emphasis on employee engagement and development. Specifically, GE's Corporate Digital Technology team centers its people strategy around three pillars: grow, engage, and value.

However, like many other Fortune 500 companies, maintaining engagement within their large, dispersed workforce was a challenge. After reviewing data from a recent culture survey, focus groups, and exit interviews, Karissa Bussard, Global Senior HR Partner and fellow leaders knew action was needed.

“Humans are wired to connect and a hybrid work environment shouldn’t impede employees from connecting with others. With hybrid work environments here to stay, companies and leaders need to adapt and symbiotically enable employee connections in an easy and automated way.” - Karissa Bussard, Global Senior HR Partner, Digital Technology at GE

Improving mentorship to foster culture and connection in hybrid teams

The GE Digital Technology team landed on mentorship as a key driver of culture, employee engagement, and connection. They partnered with 10KC to scale their existing mentorship initiatives and launch improved, automated mentorship initiatives specifically designed to thrive in a hybrid work environment.

Prioritizing both engagement and diversity, the first phase of the program focused on connecting U.S.-based employees who identify as women or minorities, with plans to move into phase two by expanding the program to thousands of employees across the US within different business units.
